Explore the USA's 'Sunshine State'
Two thousand kilometres of coastline, over half of which is beach, is the reason most visitors head to Florida. The aptly named Sunshine State has no shortages of sand to relax on, offering everything from the calm waters of Tampa Bay to the wicked surf break at Daytona Beach, where eager surfers often queue to have access to the waves. If visitors aren't there for the beach, they're generally there for theme parks – no visit to Orlando is complete without seeing fireworks sprinkle over the Walt Disney Castle at the Magic Kingdom, but there's enough theme parks to keep kids – both big and little – entertained for months at a time.
If all the thrill rides are wearing you a bit thin, the Everglades in the south is one of the most famous natural parks in the world and is a great place to see Florida's most iconic panthers and alligators in their natural habitat. The Florida Keys is a great place for those who want to lie back and soak up the laidback vibe of the south, while Latin-fuelled Miami is the cultural highlight, with its Hispanic heritage found in everything from architecture to food. Florida certainly is the place to go for the best of excitement, relaxation, nature and culture.
